Art Gallery, class visitor, assignment
Last two weeks were enjoyable. I went to the HFES annual meeting on Philadelphia at the very last moment. Philly is a beautiful city, but the meeting is more attractive, way exciting than I thought. I met some cool people and got to know different research they have done. May have a blog for that later.
Future Human Assignment
I enjoy the future human assignment very much. We don't have any limitation, it could be anything you like. But for the 'future', we do need to think about it because it's not predictable anymore. It took fifty years to landline telephone get to most users, but only seven years for people to accept embrace cell phones. Technology is developing like the virus. It's not only the speed but also the quality. We could look at it as an evolution for every big breakthrough.
The thing is, one new technology is going to changing every aspect of life. Starting with self-driving cars, do you think transportation is the only thing that is self-driving vehicle going to improve? Once we have all automated vehicle, there will be no walkway or parking lot.maybe the concept of the road is going to change as well. This is only one thing I talk about, what happens if all the unbelievable technical breakthroughs get together?
Once we realize this. We decided to do something more basic that human still needs in 200 years. We still need many assumptions, but sleeping is what we choose, and we thought reasonable to do.
Hi! You raise a great point about how innovation in a certain industry encourages the creation of complementary products as well! For instance, the widespread adoption of the iPhone has enabled many complementary businesses to thrive (companies that create and sell apps, chargers, cases, security, etc.).
